Winter is here

.........and Christmas is coming. My Christmas knitting is about done, and hopefully this weekend the tree will finally go up. Going to be a challenge with now 12 wk old Lilly. She has taken over as boss of the household critters.

First substantial snowfall was this post week and the girls were having a ball while they cleared the walks and the driveway. A busy time of year for them with music concerts and Church activities abound.
Beginning to plan after Christmas knitting here-- probably primarily sweaters for me as I have been wearing mine alot. The girls want sweatshirts and hoodies of late.

Lilly has arrived

Tonight we have a sweet new addition-- Lilly-- an 8week old part Persian/Himalayan mix. Our Thunder is her uncle and his brother is her dad. Lilly looks like her grandmother who was my ex s cat. Thunder and his brother are both grey and white, but this is the second litter that Lillys dad has produce some kits that look like her. A good study in genetics. She is so sweet, and the rest of the furballs in the house noses are upended at the moment. So be it.

This pic of the girls was taken this summer in Hyannis Ma at the JFK Memorial. They are growing like weeds and are just about as tall as I am and only 12. They are now in 7th grade.

November

Here it is November and I havent written for a bit. The Christmas knitting is moving along--- the teacher and grab bag gifts are done, and am working now on a bunch of Cable Footies from the ONESKEIN book. Am proud too because just about all are from stash. Thinking about perhaps a pullover for my Peter.

Girls soccer season ends with playoffs this weekend and soon will be taxiing to basketball practices. Have a couple books in the works, and someday they may get out there. Hopefully can get over present health ailments that are slowing me down.

Summer is gone

Summer is gone and maybe a good thing. We have a hideout on cape cod where we spend a good part of the warmer season because of the restorative value. EXCEPT for 2007. The park we are in decided to detree and excavate 5-6 acres of sites one street over from us. What a nightmare. All day long clouds of dust flying--- everything was covered with yellow clay dust including inside our unit via the air conditioner. Never washed and vaccumed so much there in my life. Could not enjoy my deck at all as it was constantly covered with dirt, and the weekly hosings were like moving sludge. I used to love to go out at daybreak and sit out there and knit and listen to the bird serenade. Well this year didnt happen because was up half the night keeping the nebulizer company, and could not try to sleep in in the am as shortly after 7 each day we were awakened by the boys with their big boy toys. And the birds were mostly gone as their domain had been turned into a desert.

Enough ranting. A bit of knitting done as was awake, inside more than I cared to be. http://www.flickr.com/photos/knittinbabci shows what I made during the month of July. Now you have to remember since New Years 2000, my resolution has been to work on only one project at a time-- no UFOs here. August was almost as productive. Made Wallabys for my girls

One of my August projects I decided to resurrect a pattern I designed and published in 1984 -- Babys First Aran. I am still in the p rocess of editing the pattern and adding sizes 2 and 4 to the already 6 mos and 1 yr. It is worked in worsted wt yarn and the pattern includes the meaning of the stitches so that they can be included in the gift card.
At the moment I have been working on stash scarves for Christmas gifts. May do some knitty Fetchings also for teachers etc.
Kids are back in school and we are working at shifting gears here. Working on adding a Newfoundland dog here -- already have a Newf/Shep cross Bosco. Girls are involved in choir, chorus, soccer and music. Hopefully can post more often here.

I have been busy

I have been remiss in posting here and sometimes life gets in the way. But I have been knitting -- my sanity-- and did figure out at least part of the digital camera. Hopefully soon will get some pics up of recent projexts and eventually will try to post new creations i as they happen. A list of completed projects since the first of the year--
8 hats- and written the pattern for one
2 pairs of socks
a sampler sweater for me and pattern wirtten but still working on getting other size #s written into it
1 baby sacque and pattern written
Aran baby hoodie and pattern written for it
2 scarfs

The other night I decided that I needed a green cardi for St Pattys day so am working on my favorite in a celery green. It is raglan and will have a braid cable up the fronts and midsleeve.

The girls basketball seasons are quickly coming to a close-- both pretty successful, and soccer wont start til mid April so will have some time to get caught up on other things. Will try to get some pics up later.

Here are Ashley and Bethany, my grandaughters who will be 12 yo on January 18. With them is our Bosco, who is a Newfoundland/Shepard cross, and only we know how much dog is behind that wreath (Hint: he is near 100 lbs.) We are hoping to add a Newfoundland rescue to our home soon.

The Beginning 01/04/2007

It is time I join the blogging generation. I am a grandmother, raising now 11 yo twin grandaughters since they were 3. I am a compulsive, very productive knitter for which I am known, and thus another reason to blog once I figure this out as folks are always asking to see what I am working on. Thus my name knittinbabci.
